Now typically remakes don't tend to be as good as originals. Many would believe that the differences exhibited in the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead, directed by Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen, etc) would classify it as a bad remake. However, in my opinion, I wouldn't necessarily classify this as a remake, but more of a re-envisioning. It takes the basic plot of the original (the mall scenario) and really stems off it into its own fun thing.

I feel that the movie is very stylish. I love the focus on gore that it gives, and its fast paced action is pretty good too. However, I feel that the movie heavily lacks in proper character development. This could be due to the amount of characters we're introduced to, but really I feel that only a few of the characters are seen all the way through and really given a role in the storyline.

Other than that, I thought it was a great film.

On another note, it has a great intro.
